About Fine Beeswax

Fine Beeswax is operated by Fine Scottish Honey Ltd. We are local beekeepers based in Balerno, Scotland, where we hand-pour all our products using beeswax from our own hives.

Fine Beeswax began with a single hive in the hills above Balerno and a simple idea — that natural, local beeswax could do more than just make honey. It could nourish, protect, and shine.

Over time, that idea grew into a small range of hand-crafted waxcare products — made using surplus wax from our own hives. We make everything ourselves, in small batches, using just the essential ingredients. No fillers. No shortcuts.

All the wax we use comes from hives we manage ourselves. That means we know exactly where it came from, how the bees were treated, and how it was handled from start to finish. We only ever take surplus wax — the bees come first.

Our vision for celebrating high-quality, genuine hive products soon grew into something much bigger. We realised that fans of real, raw honey were often struggling to find the genuine article, too frequently having to settle for mass-produced, sticky syrups found on supermarket shelves that bear little relation to the real thing.

That's why I created Fine Local Honey—a platform designed to make it incredibly easy to source pure, raw honey directly from local UK beekeepers. Following a highly successful pilot, the platform is currently rolling out across the UK.

This drive to support both the bees and the people who care for them also taps into my other great passion: using software to solve real-world problems. When I'm not hand-finishing our beeswax or working on the honey platform, I'm usually refining CleverBeek, a smart hive inspection app I developed. It was born from a simple goal: helping beekeepers move away from scribbled notes and toward digital records that instantly reveal health trends and warning signs.

For me, whether it's pouring the perfect beeswax block, connecting communities with local honey, or building tools for better apiary management, it all comes back to one thing: ensuring that our bees are managed with the best possible care and insight.
